This week’s #TovamiPose is Half Moon! As Franklin (our teacher of the month) demonstrates, ardha chandrasana can be quite the challenging balance pose!

Half moon strengthens the thighs, ankles, abdomen, and focus. It opens the chest, shoulders, torso, and lengthens the spine. Go ahead and play with all the different variations of half moon! Here are some of our favorite tips for this adventurous shape! As always, listen to your body and take any modifications that you need!

  • Use a block to lift the floor to you! If you're struggling with flexibility in your hamstrings and adductors, using a block can make this pose a little less stressful.

  • Draw your shoulders away from your ears and turn your torso slightly towards the ceiling to open through the heart.

  • Take a slight bend in your standing leg if you have the tendency to hyperextend.

  • For a core challenge, hover your fingers an inch away from the ground and use your abdominals for support!
