TEACHER TRAINING

Tovami Yoga begins its next Yoga Alliance registered and approved 200-hour teacher certification program on September 17, 2019.

Weekdays: September 17, 2019 - April 30, 2020
Tuedays, Wednesdays, & Thursdays 11 AM - 2:30 PM*
*plus some additional weekend workshops

NEW OPTION! NON-Teaching Track! If you want to expand your practice, but don’t want to teach you can join either of our group options. You will be exempt from all teaching practicum including class observations, papers, and tests, as well as all practice teaching requirements. If you join and decide to change to the teaching track, you must do so by December 1.

Our Alignment Based Hatha Yoga Vinyasa Program offers a variety of Westchester's long-time expert instructors/teachers, handpicked for their knowledge, compassion and ability to inspire. You will receive one-on-one instruction to equip yourself for your personal yoga journey, whether it be cultivating self-knowledge or an inspiring career as a teacher. From multimedia anatomy presentations to deep hands-on asana knowledge, meditation and ancient healing mudras, you will take a giant step towards your personal success and fulfillment. Plus, you’ll have FUN & connect with a wonderful, lighthearted community!

Our program is affordable with flexible schedules to fit anyone’s lifestyle. Located in a warm studio, we create a friendly, noncompetitive, welcoming environment. You’ll work very hard, but you’ll also be surrounded and supported with people on a like-minded journey, which often leads to lifelong friendships.

Tovami Yoga brings you a comprehensive teacher training based on the the Hatha Yoga Tradition. Our teacher training is designed to integrate vinyasa flow with an emphasis on alignment and skillful sequencing. Whether you wish to become a teacher or to deepen your own practice, the Tovami Yoga training will distinctively prepare you to flourish and be your best you!

During your journey, You will....

  • Be immersed in a curriculum true to the classical teachings of yoga.

COST

The RYS 200-hour Teacher Training is $3,300 If you sign up by Sept 1, 2019, $3,500 after (a savings of $200). You can make a $500 deposit to hold your spot and begin payment for your training. This deposit will go toward your overall training cost and will be refundable only if extenuating circumstances prevail. Payment plans and partial scholarships are available. You can take the duration of your teacher training to pay incrementally.

The NON-Teaching Track is $2,800 if you sign up by Sept 1, 2019, $3,000 after. You can make a deposit of $500 to hold your spot and begin payment for your training. The deposit will go toward your training.

*Please note, you will be signing up for the 200- hour teacher training and it will look like you are paying $3,300 but you will be discounted after registration or by Dec 1st, depending on your wishes. Please email Tobi@tovamiyoga.com to distinguish your track.

Please note that all dates are being finalized and some hours may changed based on the addition of workshops. For those registering in the Non-Teaching track, whichever group option you choose please make sure to note all dates. The specific dates that you do not have to attend will be given throughout the program.

TOBI KUNDID
lead instructor, Owner of Tovami Yoga Studio

Tobi Kundid is the Owner/Director of Tovami Yoga Studio and the Program Director of the 200 Hour Teacher Training. She holds a Master’s degree in Biology as well as has 20 years experience in the health & Wellness industry. Her practice with Yoga began in 2000 where she practice under a grass roots yogi who studied with Pattabhi Jois and offered his insights and knowledge with great heart and steadiness. Since her initial steps into yoga, Tobi has expanded her knowledge of wellness through many avenues including countless hours of teaching and continuing education from New York and Seattle, to Colorado and back. She has been a Teacher Trainer, Master Trainer, Fitness Presenter, Fitness & Wellness Manager, a Global Instructor Evaluator, a Fitness Team Leader as well as a Reiki Master and Instructor. She has a true passion for her work and feels that it is the greatest gift to have been able to open a yoga studio and offer this insightful and foundation gift to others. Tobi's passion and tenacity offers a wealth of experience and insights that help her students expand, both on and off the mat.

Shari Leiberman-Balaish
Co-yoga teacher

Shari is the Co-Teacher of Design, Organization & Theming. She believes yoga is an integral part of life and that it “provides endless possibility for building strength and finding peace.” Shari Lieberman Balaish discovered the practice of yoga after the birth of her third child almost sixteen years ago. Yoga is an integral part of her life and “provides endless possibility for building strength and finding peace.” Shari received her 200 hour teacher training from Laws of Yoga with Gwen Lawrence/Power yoga for sports, kids’ yoga training with Laurie Jordan at Kaia Yoga and an intensive training with Ellen Saltonstall of the Anusara

MElanie Hyman-Tilles
Co-yoga/Pranayama teacher

Melanie has been teaching yoga for the past 17 years throughout the Tri-State area.She has a masters degree from NYU in dance/movement therapy and received a couple of Teacher Training certificates from Bikram Yoga in 2001 with Bikram Yoga College of India, Los Angeles, CA. In 2003, She became also became certified by Nevine Michaan of Katonah Yoga in Bedford, NY. Melanie’s classes have a strong emphasis on breathe control, alignment, flow and imagination, giving the student an opportunity to find insight and clarity, and experience a sense of euphoria through a transformative mind/body experience.

Laurice (Lauri) Nemetz
Anatomist/Physiology

Past president of the YTA (Yoga Teachers’ Association) and currently, an adjunct professor at Pace University and the College of New Rochelle.  Lauri also leads yoga and kayaking trips on the Hudson River, Canada and Costa Rica. She is the author of "A Place of Balance: Yoga Practice for the Kayaker" (Sea Kayaker Magazine, Oct. 2010) and has published writings on movement therapy and yoga for several books and journals. Lauri has degrees from Wellesley College and a Master’s degree in Dance/Movement Therapy from Goucher College. She has deepened her anatomy work with intensive full-body dissection work with Gil Hedley, several courses in Functional Anatomy for Movement and Injuries at Mt. Sinai School of Medicine and a 200-hour course in Body Language with anatomist Tom Myers with whom she continues to study. She is a graduate of Leslie Kaminoff's Yoga Anatomy course and is a certified teacher for Tom Myers' Anatomy Trains®.
